Stakeholder meetings to discuss “Promoting Decent Jobs” and “Job matchmaking” Interventions

The two stakeholder-meetings discuss important technical and administrative issues related to two out of five proposed interventions that the observatory team members developed based on the information gained in the first Prospect cycle.

The first stakeholder meeting dealt with the Decent Jobs Intervention which aims at combating the high turnover faced by enterprises in SOC. This intervention will adopt targeted and tailored measures to raise job quality as well as productivity. After the Observatory Team presented the outline and content of the Decent Jobs Project, the stakeholders entered into a fruitful discussion about the different areas to tackle as part of the intervention. The second stakeholder meeting which followed dealt with the “Job matchmaking: Inform, Match, Employ” project which aims at connecting job seekers in Fayoum Governorate – as one of the three main governorates exporting labour to SOC – to the vacancies in the city. Eight members of the newly established "Employment Units" within Technical Education (TE) schools in Fayoum were present together with representatives from SOCIA. The stakeholders discussed the difficulties to establish a functioning matching service, the bottlenecks on both sides and the potentials as well as challenges for a cooperation between Fayoum and SOCIA.
